{"id":1048,"date":"2012-05-09T19:03:25","date_gmt":"2012-05-10T00:03:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/?p=1048"},"modified":"2012-05-09T14:30:35","modified_gmt":"2012-05-09T19:30:35","slug":"racing-time-energy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/2012\/05\/racing-time-energy\/","title":{"rendered":"Racing \u2013 Time &#038; Energy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>How does having lots of to-dos make you feel?\u00a0 The answer might vary depending on many different circumstances.\u00a0 There is a wonderful feeling of accomplishment when we have lots of things pressing on our time and still manage to get it all done.\u00a0 It can certainly make you feel alive, your heart is racing, and you can look around and see all that you accomplished.\u00a0 There is a time and a place for using this energy.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, if this is how you primarily function, your super productive moments might be far and few between, if you do not have that external pressure to get it all done, it is easy to struggle.\u00a0 This also assumes that you can turn on those super productive times when you want or need them.<\/p>\n<p>There are times when I race around the house, full of energy, getting things accomplished.\u00a0 My husband will talk to me, but I often hardly hear him, my brain is working so fast it\u2019s like I can\u2019t slow down to speak.\u00a0 That feeling is wonderful &#8211; the energy coursing through me in combination with all the things that I can get done.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, there are consequences to this energy.\u00a0 Your focus is often not directed when you\u2019re racing around.\u00a0 The tasks you work on are frequently the easiest and you ignore the pieces that require more attention or are more challenging to accomplish.\u00a0 If you continue to avoid those tasks that take more time, they won\u2019t get done.<\/p>\n<p>This can look like ADD\/ADHD \u2013 the attention and energy, although it\u2019s not limited to this situation \u2013 this racing energy can affect us all.\u00a0 You might discover this energy regardless of the length of your to-do list.\u00a0 Early on when I became a professional organizer, I would come home from working with people, I would be filled with this energy.\u00a0 I enjoyed using it to get things accomplished.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes though there are consequences to using this energy.\u00a0 I would occasionally wear myself out racing around; I wasn\u2019t paying attention to my real energy level.\u00a0 Other times, after I had settled down I would look around and see obvious tasks I\u2019d missed.\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen some people struggle with the energy as things actually get messier by the time they\u2019ve finished.<\/p>\n<p>Consider how that energy works or doesn\u2019t work for you.\u00a0 If you understand the effect of your racing energy, you can then use it to benefit yourself and your tasks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do you ever get so filled with energy?  And find yourself accomplishing lots of things in a small amount of time?
