{"id":1207,"date":"2012-10-10T19:03:39","date_gmt":"2012-10-11T00:03:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/?p=1207"},"modified":"2012-10-10T11:57:16","modified_gmt":"2012-10-10T16:57:16","slug":"cycles-of-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/2012\/10\/cycles-of-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Cycles of Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For every time there is a season.\u00a0 I\u2019ve talked before about how I deeply appreciate the seasons, the symbol of how things change \u2013 maybe not a lot, yet change surrounds us.\u00a0 This doesn\u2019t necessarily make it easy.\u00a0 It can be challenging to embrace the changes happening.\u00a0 Yet, adapting and then thriving require us to figure out how to make the most of the changes.\u00a0 If you think about yourself over the course of a day, your energy and focus shift throughout that day.<\/p>\n<p>How do you handle your own cycles?\u00a0 There are lots of people who\u2019ve talked about working on your most challenging task during the time of the day when you are most focused.\u00a0 I think of this as finding and working during your prime time.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes it\u2019s hard to figure out your prime time.\u00a0 There are many factors that impact your focus \u2013 the biggest being sleep and making sure you are getting enough good rest.\u00a0 If you are dealing with mental health issues, these too take a tremendous toll on your focus. There are many things that can interfere with your prime time.\u00a0 It\u2019s important to handle these things and be gentle with yourself if you\u2019re struggling to make the most of your time.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s great to make the most of your prime time for getting things accomplished; yet typically we can\u2019t stop working after our best time is over.\u00a0 We still have things we need to work on, though hopefully we\u2019ll have made the most of our prime time.\u00a0 This is one the reasons that I think about my tasks in relation to various factors, i.e. time, energy, activity, intellectual, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Do you think about your energy and attention when you\u2019re considering your to-do list?\u00a0 A few years back I began making sure my to-do list had different types of tasks.\u00a0 Too many times I was staring at the list dreading it all and simply procrastinating.\u00a0\u00a0 By thinking about my energy and attention, I wasn\u2019t making the to-do list that would facilitate making the most of my time.\u00a0 Now I make sure that there are a variety of types of tasks \u2013 so when I am feeling more drained, I can work on more sedentary tasks \u2013 either needing more or less concentration depending on my level of focus.<\/p>\n<p>In this day and age it seems there\u2019s always more to do, and this means that we can set up our to-do lists with various criteria.\u00a0 Figure out when your prime time is and make the most of that.\u00a0 Then consider what things you can do when you\u2019re more tired \u2013 those tasks that require less thought or less activity.\u00a0 If we always have options for getting things accomplished even when we\u2019re not at our best \u2013 we move through the to-do list steadily.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There\u2019s an inherent cyclical nature to every day and we can embrace that as we create and work on our to-do lists, maximizing our productive time by taking into account our own limits.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[11],"tags":[10,8,18,5,9,7,22,16],"class_list":["post-1207","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-timemanagement","tag-behavior","tag-discipline","tag-goals","tag-household","tag-motivation","tag-procrastination","tag-productivity","tag-to-do-lists"],"aioseo_notices":[],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"jetpack_shortlink":"https:\/\/wp.me\/p7p82c-jt","jetpack-related-posts":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1207","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1207"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1207\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1211,"href":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1207\/revisions\/1211"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1207"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1207"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.jenniferlinnig.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1207"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
