Here I am about to state the obvious \u2013 my blog always comes out the day before Thanksgiving.\u00a0 This causes me to have mixed feelings \u2013 I want everyone to be focused on enjoying their day.\u00a0 There are times to be thinking about our habits, our organizing, our time management, and etcetera.\u00a0 Then there are times when it\u2019s time to set that aside for a while \u2013 other priorities are more important.<\/p>\n
One of the things I talk to people about is setting priorities.\u00a0 When everything holds the same value, everything can lose its value.\u00a0 Think about it in terms of stuff \u2013 if you are so surrounded by things you love, how can you love everything when you can\u2019t see or find it?\u00a0 This applies just as much to our interests \u2013 if you want to do everything, you need to figure out what exactly you want to focus on first.<\/p>\n
Even more importantly, you need to decide what can wait \u2013 when it\u2019s time to set something aside \u2013 either permanently or just for the time being.\u00a0 This is part of what causes someone to feel overwhelmed \u2013 the feeling that there is just so much to be done and not being able to leave something undone.<\/p>\n
All of life is a journey \u2013 like organizing \u2013 there\u2019s not an end point.\u00a0 There\u2019s always more to be done, more to organize, more to improve, and on and on infinitum.\u00a0 It\u2019s part of what makes life so interesting.\u00a0 It\u2019s also exactly this that frustrates our efforts.<\/p>\n
My vision of this is walking down a road, coming to the familiar crossroads, and choosing a path.\u00a0 Sometimes this path is about setting something down for a while \u2013 I leave that thing, the interest or desire, by the side of the road \u2013 because it\u2019s just an image, I know I can pick that interest back up again after I\u2019ve traveled for a while.<\/p>\n
Often the holidays are full of routines \u2013 we always get together with so and so on Thanksgiving.\u00a0 As with virtually everything I talk about \u2013 I encourage you to figure out your own needs and values \u2013 for Thanksgiving as with anything else.\u00a0 It can be challenging to align your priorities with your life, yet it\u2019s important to do.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
