wall is made of, allows you to hang things where you cannot put a nail (surface being too delicate or hard)<\/li>\n<li>damage-free removal<\/li>\n<li>various styles and types<\/li>\n<li>certain strips connect with any other strips \u2013 no \u201cmale\u201d or \u201cfemale\u201d pieces<\/li>\n<li>refill strips allow you to only replace one side when you move<\/li>\n<li>saw-tooth picture hanger, wire-backed picture hanging hooks, and clips come with 1 refill included in the package<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Cons:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>don\u2019t address if they come off the item and if it\u2019s possible; i.e. poster strips or frames<\/li>\n<li>a 2 step process &#8211;&gt; requires an hour between attaching to both surfaces and when you can leave item attached<\/li>\n<li>recommend wiping surface with alcohol (no wipes included) and the process can feel long if you\u2019re impatient<\/li>\n<li>doesn\u2019t adhere to every surface<\/li>\n<li>basically plastic, for the hooks and clips even with various styles<\/li>\n<li>some temperature limitations<\/li>\n<li>a little expensive compared to a nail or even a picture hanging kit<\/li>\n<li>the refill being included means having potential clutter around as well as needing to not lose it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3>Review:<\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019ve been hearing about the various styles of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.command.com\/wps\/portal\/3M\/en_US\/NACommand\/Command\/\" target=\"_blank\">3M Command Strips<\/a> for several years now and at least year\u2019s NAPO conference received a couple of samples to try out for myself.\u00a0 In that interim between hearing about them and getting the samples, I\u2019d looked at them in the stores and considered purchasing them.\u00a0 The thing that always stopped me was that I couldn\u2019t think of where and how I would be able to use them.\u00a0 And even after conference, back in March of 2012, they sat around for a while.<\/p>\n<p>Let me take a moment here to share that in some ways this post will not be complete \u2013 I have not removed any of the Command strips that have been applied, so I cannot comment on how damage-free the removal truly is \u2013 though as I have done in the past, I will revisit this when I have more information to share.<\/p>\n<p>Then suddenly I needed them \u2013 a magnetic white board we had hung in the kitchen came crashing down, the adhesive that came with it was jiggled loose when we were doing some other work.\u00a0 Aha, this would be a perfect test for a set of Command strips for framed pieces.\u00a0 I pulled out one of the packages, read the instructions, and got it put up.\u00a0 As I was doing this, the handyman working on some pipes in the basement came upstairs and saw what I was doing.\u00a0 He commented that he loved them \u2013 when his tenants use them, the walls are left undamaged.<\/p>\n<p>I found that I was almost paranoid that they wouldn\u2019t hold my magnetic white board.\u00a0 I kept checking to make sure it didn\u2019t seem loose and each day when I came home, to make sure that it was still hanging.\u00a0 It has never moved to this point in time \u2013 it remains solidly attached, holding coupons and whatnot for our home.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, I am quite fascinated by the \u201cvelcro\u201d that they use on these picture strips.\u00a0 It\u2019s not traditional Velcro, there\u2019s no difference between the two pieces, which means that these any one piece can adhere to any other piece.\u00a0 Unlike Velcro where you need 2 different pieces to connect to each other, any 2 pieces can connect with the 3M Command strip systems \u2013 at least with this picture frame style.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<div id=\"attachment_1273\" style=\"width: were talking about our coat closet (it lives in what is now the study \u2013 see the videos and blogs about re-vamping) and what to do about one of his hats.\u00a0 Aha, I was given a 3M Command hook as well.\u00a0 I immediately went and grabbed that and hung the hat up.\u00a0 Somehow I was much less concerned about that falling, though it too hasn\u2019t moved.\u00a0 I find the white plastic appearance of the hook to be less than ideal, though considering what it is and what it\u2019s used for \u2013 it\u2019s fine.\u00a0 It\u2019s also completely hidden when the hat is hung on products within this category \u2013 from the picture and frame hangers, hooks, to clips, and poster hangers.\u00a0 They offer different colors \u2013 from the standard white, to clear and metal appearance, and now a designer option.\u00a0 3M has considered the dampness of bathrooms as well in their design \u2013 they offer a number of hooks for use in the bathroom, even in the shower itself.<\/p>\n<p>They do talk about some temperature sensitivity \u2013 they cannot be applied without some pre-treatment at temperatures below 50<strong>\u00b0<\/strong> F and the adhesive can soften above 105\u00b0F.\u00a0 None of these products are made for use in cars, where the temperatures and sun exposure can be so varied.\u00a0 These are available in many stores \u2013 OfficeMax, Office Depot, Target, Walmart, Kmart, Home Depot, Lowe\u2019s, Menards, Ace, True Value, CVS, and JoAnn\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>These might be quite useful for some of your needs.\u00a0 They\u2019re worth considering and trying out \u2013 if you can find a way to use them.\u00a0 As with everything else, figure out what and how you would use them before running out to buy them!\u00a0
